Role of a Reviewer
Peer reviewers play a crucial role in maintaining the academic standards of JIEE. As a reviewer, you serve as a gatekeeper ensuring that only high-quality, original, and ethically sound research is published.
Provide constructive, objective, and timely feedback on manuscripts
Evaluate the scientific validity, originality, and significance of the research
Identify strengths and weaknesses in methodology, analysis, and presentation
Maintain confidentiality of the manuscript and review process
Declare any conflicts of interest that may affect your objectivity
Review Process
1. Invitation and Response
When you receive a review invitation, please respond within 7 days indicating whether you can complete the review. If you cannot accept, we appreciate suggestions for alternative reviewers.
2. Initial Assessment
Before conducting a full review, assess whether:
The manuscript falls within your area of expertise
You have no conflicts of interest
You can complete the review within the requested timeframe
3. Conducting the Review
A thorough review should take approximately 3-4 hours. Read the manuscript carefully and evaluate it against our review criteria.
4. Submitting Your Review
Submit your review through the Nepal Journals Online platform. Provide clear, constructive feedback that helps authors improve their work.
Review Criteria
When reviewing a manuscript, please consider the following criteria:
Originality
Does the manuscript present new ideas, methods, or findings that contribute to the field?
Scientific Validity
Are the methodology and analysis appropriate and correctly applied? Are conclusions supported by the data?
Significance
Does the work address an important problem? Will it have impact on research or practice?
Clarity
Is the manuscript well-organized and clearly written? Are figures and tables informative?
Literature Review
Is relevant prior work adequately cited? Is the context of the research properly established?
Ethics
Does the research adhere to ethical standards? Are there any concerns about data or authorship?

When reviewing manuscripts for JIEE, please address the following questions in your review report:
Manuscript Title:
Please include the title of the manuscript you are reviewing.
Please state the main objective and provide a brief description of the manuscript in your own words.
Please provide a list of the manuscript's novelty or original contributions.
Please provide your opinion regarding the author's description of points to help readers to avoid pitfalls in their own research work.
Please comment on the organization of the paper and offer any suggestions that you think will improve the content and readability of the manuscript.
Please comment on the technical correctness of the manuscript. Identify any specific technical inaccuracies that you find and make suggestions for correcting those.
Please discuss the quality of the citations in this manuscript. If you think the citations should be improved, please provide specific references or sources of articles, such as journals or magazines, that should be consulted.
Please provide a list of the manuscript's strengths and weaknesses.
Please confirm that the information provided in the manuscript is contemporary and consistent. If otherwise, please provide your comments.
Please check whether sufficient research has been performed by the authors and evidence exists to support the authors' claims. If otherwise, please provide your comments.
Please provide your opinion regarding the appropriateness, clarity, and sufficiency of the title, tables, charts, and figures contained in the manuscript. Please give page numbers and make direct reference to the specific areas of the manuscript on which you are commenting.

Manuscripts under review are confidential documents. Do not share the manuscript or discuss its contents with anyone without explicit permission from the editor.
Conflicts of Interest
Decline to review if you have any relationship with the authors that could bias your judgment, including: personal relationships, recent collaboration, competition, or financial interests.
Objectivity and Constructiveness
Base your review on the scientific merit of the work. Provide specific, constructive feedback that helps authors improve their manuscript. Avoid personal criticism.
Review Recommendation Options
Accept: The manuscript is suitable for publication with no or only minor editorial changes.
Minor Revision: The manuscript requires minor improvements that should be addressed before acceptance.
Major Revision: Significant revisions are needed. The revised manuscript will require re-review.
Reject: The manuscript is not suitable for publication in JIEE.
